Bookies favors Barcelona in the Champions League final

This looks like another very successful season for Manchester United as the Red Devils have already won two major trophies and are very close to winning two more. United had a tremendous last season as they won both Champions League and Premier League and not many people believed that they would be able to top that this term, especially after the very slow start. However, United showed everyone that they were still one of the best, if not the best team in the World and it is evident that Sir Alex Ferguson wants to take a couple of more trophies before he finally retires.

The team won World Club Cup and Carling Cup relatively easy and that is when they started thinking about winning the quintuple of major trophies. Everton ended that dream by eliminating them from the FA Cup semi-finals, but that only happened because Alex Ferguson had fielded a second string line-up as he wanted to keep the first team regulars fresh for the league campaign. Even though they were trailing Liverpool in the Premier League in the first part of the season, United soon leapfrogged the fierce rivals after the impressive run of results and they are now hot favourites to defend the title. They are now three points clear of Reds with a game in hand and I don’t see how they will miss out on the Premiership title.

Manchester United played really well in the Champions League as well although they did have some problems in the quarter-final clash with Porto. Nevertheless, they won the return leg in Portugal thanks to the stunning goal by Ronaldo and that was enough to qualify for the semi-final where they faced Arsenal. It is in this duel where they’ve shown why they were considered one of the best sides in Europe, having completely outplayed Arsenal in both legs. They were especially impressive in the return leg at the Emirates, winning the game 3:1. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side will meet Barcelona in the final game in Rome and that will be a treat for all the football fans. Online bookmakers see Barcelona as slight favourites but nobody can afford to write Manchester off, not after their recent performances.
