The agent of Romelu Lukaku has said that Inter Milan need to speed up negotiations with Manchester United in order to secure the services of the Belgian this summer. The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Nerazzurri in recent weeks but the club have not been able to negotiate a transfer fee for his signature.
He told the outlet: “It was just a chat. I spoke with the director (Marotta) to understand the club’s intentions with the player. They will take the decisions, we can’t put a time frame on it. What is clear is that if Inter want the player, they will need to get a move on. Inter are seriously trying to sign him, they are all out for him. Goals are not always there to be reached, but it’s a declared target. At the moment, it remains a complicated dream.”
Inter are understood to value Lukaku at around £60m but that remains below United’s £80m price tag for the marksman. Owing to this, there has been a stall in negotiations between the teams, though the Nerazzurri continue to remain optimistic that they can find the breakthrough with the Mancunian giants.
United are currently not looking into a new striker but reports have suggested that Wissam Ben Yedder could emerge as the prime target, should Lukaku part ways with the club. The Frenchman had a stellar season with Sevilla last term, where he contributed 30 goals and a further 11 assists across all competitions.
